Terms

The agreement between you and us for using map.name. Written to be read, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.

map.name is operated by BNDDIGITAL LIMITED, Ground Floor, 71 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin, Ireland. These terms cover the map.name apps on iOS and Android and map.name on the web. By using map.name you accept them. Last updated 8 September 2026.

The part that matters most

Your captures and your words stay yours

You own everything you save and everything you write. We do not claim it, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models. We need your permission only to run the service for you: to store your captures, show them back to you, and publish the specific things you choose to publish. That permission ends when you delete them.

Your account

Publishing

Everything is private until you publish it. When you publish, you decide block by block what becomes public, and you are responsible for what you put out under your name. Do not publish other people's work as your own, anything unlawful, or private information about someone who has not agreed to it.

Published pages are public web pages. Search engines and AI assistants can read them, and copies may persist beyond our control once they are out. Unpublishing removes a page from map.name and tells search engines it is gone, but we cannot recall a copy somebody already made.

Writing made with map.name

map.name drafts written pieces, called Rewinds, from your own captures. Two things follow from that, and both are deliberate.

Machine drafted text can be wrong. Read a piece before you publish it, because once it carries your name it is your writing.

Acceptable use

Do not use map.name to:

We may throttle unusual load to keep the service working for everyone. Saving things is never blocked by this: heavy processing simply waits its turn.

Paid plans

Reporting something

Every published page carries a way to report it. If something breaks these terms or your rights, tell us at admin@map.name and we will look at it. We can remove content and suspend accounts, and we will say what we did and why.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time, and the delete your account page explains exactly what happens and when. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and other than in clear cases of abuse we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your work.

What we do not promise

We work hard to keep map.name available and your data safe, and we take encrypted backups. We cannot promise the service will never be unavailable or that machine written text will always be right. map.name is provided as it is, and you should keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose. Exporting is free and takes one click, which is the honest way to make that promise keepable.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Beyond that, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose.

The legal bits

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere in the EU or UK, you keep the protections of your own country's law. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app rather than quietly updating the date at the top of this page.
