The One White Fish

A garden pond is easy to glance at and walk past.

3 catches · Darndale · 6 days

This one in Darndale did not let go that easily: the fish got photographed, then looked up, then written down, and the part that stayed was the smallest detail of all.

Dark water, orange shapes

The pond photos show koi moving through dark water, bright bodies against it [1][2]. Nothing staged, just a garden pond someone stopped at long enough to shoot twice.

The encyclopedia covered centuries of breeding and culture. What got written down from the actual pond was one white fish among the orange ones, the detail no article supplies.
