The tower appears early, half-hidden by trees, and seems like the obvious destination. But the walk keeps pulling attention away from the distant view and toward the structures that divide, contain and channel the ground.

A landmark through the trees

The dirt footpath supplies a direction, while the observation tower remains filtered through the trees, more clue than arrival. [1] [2]

Every boundary changes character

Then boundaries take over. A wire fence and plain wooden post give way to painted rails and a more decorative wooden structure. [3] [4] [5] The progression finds its purpose at the goat enclosure: these barriers are also invitations to stop and look. [6]

The path closes in

The final structures no longer frame something on the other side. A narrow wooden corridor channels the person walking through it, before the same form resolves into a trench at a historical site. [7] [8]
